FitFlick & Yoga – Part 4

FitFlick Blog 24-1-18.jpg

This is our fourth part special where we share with you, what we’re setting out to achieve with FitFlick and how you can use the app when we launch. This week we’re talking about FitFlick and Yoga!

There was a time when yoga practice was associated only with hippie types who drank herbal tea and wore flip-flops in winter. Now, there’s a yoga studio in almost every large town in Ireland and across the suburbs of our major cities. Yoga has also become popular among athletes, soccer and rugby players while maintaining its core following among women of all ages. The aim of all yoga is to help integrate physical, mental and emotional aspects of your being and so bring harmony to mind, body, and spirit.

Here are some of the more popular types of yoga if you didn’t already know:

  1. Iyengar
  2. Bikram
  3. Ashtanga
  4. Vinyasa
  5. Kundalini

Check out Gym Lion for their explanation of these as well as some other types to choose from.

That being said, as you can see there’s more to yoga than just showing up to your local studio with your yoga mat and setting about your routine. You’ll want to educate yourself on the different types, whats involved in each, what can you get out of it and how it can benefit you and your goals/aims.

That’s where connecting with someone who shares a mutual interest – Yoga can help you along your way, and the FitFlick app will help you do just that. Connect with someone through FitFlick who knows about the activity. Ask them for help, advice, tips, the possibilities are endless. Alternatively, you could also try and connect with yoga instructors on FitFlick. Ask them for advice or even arrange to meet them at their studio for some group yoga classes they might run.

All-in-all finding a mutual person to connect with that’s also interested in yoga can really help you not only understand the activity more, but also encourage you to get out there and engage with the yoga community. We all need a little motivation sometimes, and having a “yoga buddy” may just be whats needed to get up and go, whether that be to the park on a nice day to practice some yoga with your new connections on FitFlick, or even connect with someone to find out where the best yoga studios are and even arrange to go with them to yoga sessions.

We also want to make it as simple and easy as possible to find like-minded people in your area. Setting up a profile on the FitFlick app is as simple as 1,2,3, with our integrated Facebook sign-up. The steps couldn’t be simpler:

  1. Download FitFlick
  2. Sign-up through Facebook
  3. Flick left or right
  4. Connect and motivate!

Sound interesting? Stay tuned here at FitFlick, we’re launching the app very soon. Here’s a sneak peek, *pre-alpha
